Protein Blends: Your Best Bet

This research study showed that due to the differing rates of digestion of each of the three proteins, muscle protein synthesis was maximized but also maintained for much longer than whey protein did. It could be argued that the same response would have been seen with just the dairy proteins whey and casein. After all other studies have shown exactly this with whey and casein. So my advice is to at the very least combine whey and casein in your postworkout shake to make sure protein synthesis stays turned up for as long as possible. Or if you do what I sometimes do, add them to your pre/during/post workout shake.
