Why Protein is Costly?
11.07.2017High quality protein supplements looks quite costly to us but in reality, Proliva proteins are one of the cheapest proteins available as our aim is to remove protein deficiency amongst Indians and make India healthy.
Proteins in general are the costliest components of food basket, not just in India but across the World. While carbs available in form of potatoes, bananas, sugars, etc. are available in the range of Rs. 10 to Rs. 50 per Kg, fats are also available comparatively cheaper starting from Rs. 60 per Kg in form of vegetable oils. On the other hand, if you look at rich sources of protein, proportion of proteins available within that and cost that we pay for each gram of protein, you would realise the difference as below:
- Toned Milk costs Rs. 40 per Litre and contains around 2.5% proteins.
- Daal costs Rs. 100 per Kg and contains around 14% proteins. However, bio-availability of these proteins is lower and therefore proteins available for complete absorption by the body are around 7% out of it. Further, these are incomplete proteins (i.e. they lack the Essential Amino Acids required by humans).
- An Egg costs around Rs. 7 and contains around 2-3g bio-available proteins.
Against these, Proliva products provide pure proteins at around Rs. 2.5-3.5 per g with the highest quality and different types of proteins focussed on different functionalities, also fortified with other nutrition required for the consumers.
A scoop of Proliva products costs Rs. 60 for adults (30 g) and Rs. 30 for kids (15 g), which takes care of majority of your protein requirements for the day. Even if you take wholesome food outside or at home, it normally costs much more per meal than the cost of Proliva scoop!
